Letter to the family

Dear Future Host Family,

My name is Chloe, and I’m a 20-year-old university student from the United States currently studying Neuroscience. I’m passionate about child development, fascinated by different cultures, and excited by the idea of joining a family abroad to help care for their children while growing through this unique experience.

I want to become an au pair because I truly love working with kids. I’ve spent time babysitting, tutoring, and shadowing pediatric doctors, and each experience has deepened my appreciation for the joy, creativity, and honesty that children bring into the world. Being an au pair gives me the chance to support a family, create genuine bonds with children, and learn about daily life in a new country in a way that no classroom ever could.

I believe I would be a great fit for your family because I’m dependable, open-minded, and kind. I approach childcare with patience and care, and I take my responsibilities seriously. I want your children to feel safe, heard, and supported—and for you to feel confident knowing your home is in good hands. Whether it's helping with schoolwork, organizing activities, or simply being present and engaged, I’m committed to being a positive influence in your household.

My background in neuroscience, along with my hands-on experiences working with children, makes me especially interested in how kids grow, think, and interact with the world. I’m also excited to share my culture with your family and to learn about yours in return. I believe mutual respect, curiosity, and communication make for a great au pair-host family relationship.

Thank you for taking the time to read my letter. I’m looking forward to the possibility of getting to know you and becoming a part of your family.

Warmly,
Chloe

Experience

While I haven’t officially worked as an au pair yet, I have several years of experience caring for children in both personal and professional settings. I’ve babysat for multiple families, helped with schoolwork and daily routines, and even shadowed pediatric doctors in hospital environments, where I gained insight into child development, emotional support, and communication with both children and parents. These experiences have strengthened my patience, creativity, and ability to adapt to each child’s unique needs.

I would love to become an au pair abroad because it’s the perfect mix of everything I’m passionate about—working with children, learning about new cultures, and building meaningful relationships. I don’t just want to travel as a tourist—I want to live like a local, become part of a family, and grow through the everyday moments that make life abroad so special. I believe being an au pair is more than just a job—it’s a chance to share kindness, make memories, and create real connections across cultures.
