Letter to the family

Hi! My name is Michele, and I’m so excited to possibly become a part of your family. I’m originally from California but moved to Virginia for college, where I earned my degree in Business Administration and my Master’s in Family Advocacy and Public Policy. I’m also the oldest of three, one sister and one brother, so caring for kids has always been a big part of my life, both personally and professionally.
I’m interested in becoming an au pair and nanny because I love working with children and being part of their daily lives—helping with routines, creating fun moments, supporting them through challenges, and watching them grow. I also enjoy the idea of living somewhere new, learning from a different environment, and getting to know a family on a deeper level.
I’d love for you to consider hosting me because I’m reliable, hardworking, and easy to communicate with. I’ve worked as a swim instructor, lifeguard, camp leader, substitute teacher, and program advisor—all of which involved caring for kids from babies to teens. I’m trained in CPR and First Aid, and I’m confident handling busy days, different personalities, and everything in between.

Experience

While I haven’t worked as an official au pair/ nanny yet, I have several years of experience caring for children in a wide variety of settings. I’ve worked as a swim instructor and lifeguard, led summer camp activities, served as a substitute teacher, and supported students through travel-based academic programs. I’ve cared for children of all ages—from infants to teenagers—and I’m confident in managing daily routines, keeping kids engaged, and creating a safe, nurturing environment. I’d love the opportunity to become an au pair or nanny abroad because I enjoy working with kids and connecting with families in a meaningful way. I also really value experiencing new cultures and stepping outside of my comfort zone. Living abroad would give me the chance to combine my love for childcare with my interest in travel, personal growth, and learning how people live and raise children in different parts of the world. I’m excited about the idea of becoming a trusted part of a family’s life while also learning from them along the way.
