Letter to the family

Hello dear host family,

I am a little nervous to write this letter, because this is my first time to write a letter like this.

My name is Zara , I am 20 years old. I live in a small village in Southern Germany called Friesenheim. For years I have dreamt of being an au pair abroad in England. Now I would love to be yours!

I would like to begin by explaining why I think I would be a good fit for you. I consider myself a sociable and open-minded person with a good sense of humor. In my free time I like to dance and meet friends. I know they care about me a lot because they have been very supportive of me about this application. One friend, Julia, helped me helped me with some translations but the main content is, of course, my own.

I have a small but caring family. My only sibling is my 21 year-old sister Cennet, with whom I have a very good relationship. Our family is always supportive, no matter what happens. My mother, Meral and father, Ilyas, are both Turkish and I can understand Turkish well. I love my parents a lot but can also stand to be away from them as I never really get homesick.
Another little member of the family is our cat, Nelly. I love cats. I love animals in general but my favourite animals are cats, lions and pumas. In my city I saw a little puma baby. That was one of my biggest dreams.

My life motto is „If you wan’t to have something really in your life you will have it anytime. It doesn’t matter if you have to wait 2 days or 10 years. One day you will have your luck if you work for it.

After my granduation from high school it was immediately clear to me to do something in the social field. I have had a lot of experience with children, because as a school student, I worked in child care. The children age were between 6-10 years old. We read, played games and ate together. Besides this, I have often taken care of my cousins and other children. In the pictures you can see them with there names. I did an internship in a kindergarden for children from age 1-4. It was such a fun for me and it further confirmed my desire to pursue social work.
I decided for the AuPair program because I like love kids and l want to gain experience abroad. I have traveled in Europe, but I have never lived abroad. Most important, I want very much to improve my English because I often get nervous and that makes it even harder. Still, I try my best.
I think experience abroad is very valuable and I know I would learn many things for my future. I believe it is a really big part of becoming an adult, to be away from the parents’ house, to take over responsibility, to be more independent and make one’s own decisions. I have no doubt that there will be daily challenges being an AuPair but I am keen to take initiative.

I am comfortable with people of all ages, but what I love about children is that they are so excited, adventurous, spontaneous, and teachable. As an Au pair, I look forward to being a positive role model for my host family’s child and to the rich cultural exchange that will take place.

I hope I have painted a nice picture of myself in this letter to convince you to choose me as your Au Pair. But ultimately, I would be happy for the opportunity you to make your own impression of me.
Kind regarts, Zara.
