Letter to the family

- Who you are?
My name is Bernat, I’m 22 years old and I come from Girona, a city in the north-east of Catalonia, Spain. I’m currently finishing my last year of a Business Administration and Management degree at the University of Girona. I spent a semester studying abroad in Finland and I’m currently doing an internship at Deutsche Bank. I’ve always been an organized, disciplined and proactive person, with a strong sense of responsibility and a clear focus on personal and professional growth.

- Why you want to become an Au Pair?
I am looking for an opportunity to live in Switzerland because I see my future there. My goal is to work and build a professional career in Switzerland, and I believe that starting as an Au Pair is a perfect way to adapt to the country’s culture, learn the language (German or improve my level of French), and understand everyday life in a Swiss family. I want to take this experience as a transition year that allows me to contribute to a family while preparing myself for the next step in my career.

- Why the candidate should host you?
I am an active, reliable and caring person with real experience working with children. I have worked as a basketball referee and as a coach for children’s teams, and I also worked in an academy supporting secondary school students with their academic subjects. I’m used to taking responsibility, setting a good example, and engaging with kids in both educational and fun ways.

- Why you qualify for the position?
Besides my previous work with children, I have also completed a youth leadership course, which gave me tools to work in educational and recreational settings. I speak four languages (Catalan, Spanish, English – B2, and French – B2), and I am really open to learning German or improving my French depending on the region of Switzerland. I hold a driver’s license, I live a healthy and active lifestyle, and I’m fully committed to integrating into Swiss culture in a respectful and responsible way. I genuinely enjoy spending time with children and I believe I can offer both support and positive energy to your family!!

Experience

- Describe your experience as an Au Pair:
While I haven’t yet worked as an Au Pair, I have extensive experience in roles that involve working with children. I have been a second basketball coach for youth teams, where I was responsible for organizing practices, guiding young players, and helping them develop both their technical skills and teamwork abilities. Additionally, I have taught secondary school students at an academy, where I helped them understand key academic concepts and supported their learning process. I also completed a junior activity leader course, which prepared me to work with children in leisure settings such as summer camps, teaching me how to organize fun and educational activities.

Through these experiences, I have developed a strong sense of responsibility, patience, and effective communication, all of which are key skills for being a successful Au Pair.

- Why would you like to become an Au Pair abroad?
I would like to become an Au Pair abroad, particularly in Switzerland, because I see it as an excellent opportunity to integrate into a new culture, learn the local language, and gain firsthand experience living in a different country. I had the chance to study abroad in Finland, and I absolutely loved the experience—it was an incredible opportunity to immerse myself in a new environment, adapt to a different lifestyle, and learn from diverse perspectives. This experience strengthened my desire to work and live abroad.

Now, I am eager to continue this journey in Switzerland, where I can connect with local families, experience Swiss life firsthand, and contribute to the well-being and development of children. I believe that being an Au Pair will not only allow me to grow personally but also professionally, as I hope to work in Switzerland long-term in a career related to business or finance. This position will give me the time and space to improve my language skills, adapt to the culture, and build meaningful relationships with the people I meet.
