Letter to the family

Hi, host families from either Australia, New Zealand or the USA (Hawaii)!:) My name is Maja, I'm a 19 year old girl from Denmark. I am currently living with my family – there are 6 of us. My mom, dad, biological sister (17 years old) and my foster care sister (5 years old) and of course our beloved dog. This summer (2021) I will be graduating High School, which means that I will be able to go on new and exciting adventures! Therefore I am looking forward to join a sweet and loving family during my gap year. People usually describe me as a social butterfly:) I'm a very outgoing, fun and lively girl, who enjoys doing all kinds of activities such as hiking, bicycling, dancing, swimming, playing boardgames and much more – but I also appreciate staying in with my family at times. I'm a huge family person. I especially love spending quality time with my younger sisters.

Being the oldest sibling in my family has helped me grow so much as a person. I always try to help out as much as I can at home, wether that means doing the laundry, cooking meals, tidying up around the house and so on. I truly believe that I would be a great addition to your sweet family. I can't wait to meet all of you:)

Experience

I have been a Nanny/Babysitter for some of my neighbours' kids in the past few years, so I have a lot of experience with taking care of other people's children. But other than that I also have a younger sister, as I mentioned, who's five years old at the moment. We got her when she was 3 months old. Even though she's a foster care child, she quickly became family<3 This means that I have a lot of experience with taking care of children in the age of 0-5 years old. I'm definitely not afraid to change a diaper anymore;) Meanwhile I also got the chance to reconnect with my inner child, while still growing up and being a normal teenager. I have found out that I still really enjoy playing with LEGOs, dolls and spending time on the swings at the local playground. And after all these years it warms my heart to see and hear that my foster care sister looks up to me – and I want to be just as good a role model for your children.

While taking care of your children and doing the chores in your home, I would also enjoy learning about the culture and the values of your country. I want my gap year to be a year of growth. I would really like to spend some of my time during the weekends to explore my surroundings and meet new friends. Other than that I want to challenge my language skills and get even better at speaking and writing in english.
