Letter to the family
Dear Host Family
My name is Kendall and I am currently 18 years old living in Sicily Italy. I am actually Australian and have lived on the Gold Coast my whole life, but in 2024 I have been an exchange student for 12 months here in Italy.
I have lots of experience with children as I was dance teacher for kids aged 5-14 at an afterschool Arts program called GCYTA. With this I encourage, neutered and cared for children for 2 years after school as well as on the holidays for all day camps. I loved my job and I miss these kids dearly, as every afternoon I was greeted with hugs and little smiles yelling for “miss Kendall”. In this work I learnt a lot about patience with a child and how to control/discipline a class with care, kindness and understanding. This work involved me for an hour or more with 25 five-year-olds, so when I would do babysitting on the weekends it felt like a walk in the park. I truely love kids and was so grateful for my work. And I was blessed this year in my host family to have a host sister that is 7 years old. Even though I call her my sister, I definitely already feel like an au pair. I often watch her when the parents go out for a dinner partys or work. This involves dinner, shower, play, bedtime and more. I believe that actually living with a child and babysitting for one afternoon is very different. I have discovered living with my new little sister, how much parents have to do for there children.
I am so excited to be an au pair in 2025, it has been on my bucket list to do my whole life, and I have always wanted to live in London so to me this would be the perfect test run to see if me and the city match.
I would definitely be comfortable and ready to be hosted as I have had practice for a year in Italy, and I’ve already been through the roller coaster of emotions being away from home, which has turned me into a brave and independent young women. I believe I am an outgoing and approachable person with a positive attitude, I think this branches from my love and experience in Dance, musical theatre and acting. These hobbies have taught me so many skills and discipline I use every day. In my free time I love to read, shop, swim, run, dance and sing. There is still so much I have to share about myself, so feel free to contact me and I can talk away!
