Letter to the family

Hello dear family,

I am Hede, 18 years old and currently doing my Abitur (A-levels) and will finish it this Summer. After that I would like to spend my au-pair stay in Japan and therefore I am looking for a lovely family.

I volunteer at church and I am a group leader there. This means that I organize and do monthly activities with children, in which I play or do handicrafts with a group. For example, we also go to camp every summer, where I have to look after and entertain the children around the clock.

Once a week I tutor a child (aged 8) in German, but I also help her with her homework in all subjects.
I also occasionally look after my niece (aged 8), play with her and help her with homework or similar.

All in all, I always enjoy doing things with children :)

Experience

I dream of going to Japan and traveling around, seeing the different regions, also after I have finished my au-pair stay.
Two years ago, I tried very hard to do a year abroad, but unfortunately I couldn't do it because I didn't get the scholarship.
That's why I'm now even more excited to have another chance to get to know Japan. Since I started watching anime, my interest in Japan and Japanese culture has grown more and more over the years. Last year in school, I also wrote a research paper about anime, as well as Japanese culture and history. I think japaese culture, history and nature are super interesting and i want to know more about it.
However, it's not just Japan that motivates me to go abroad, but also life in a host family. I like to take care of children and I am also happy to help with household chores or other tasks :) When I wanted to do a student exchange two years ago, one of the main reasons was to live with a host family. That's why I would like to do an au-pair year and not work and travel or a simple vacation.
