Letter to the family

Hi there! I am a university student who has been taking care of children for 8 years. I have taught, done camp, been a private nanny and babysitter, and lifeguard. I love the outdoors like trails, parks, and the beach. I'm super active but love quiet time as well. I'm looking to form a connection to a family and your children while also getting to travel and experience a new culture. I am used to living alone, and travelling/living abroad, so seeking a family that is looking for someone they trust and don't need to constantly engage, more like a partnership, and people to feel at home with. I have been babysitting since I was 12 years old. I was a sunday school teacher for 4 years with ages 5-9, and a camp counsellor for 2 years with ages 4-12. I also did camp counselling and teaching/tutoring with children with special needs. For the past 2 years, I have worked as a private household nanny with babies from 5 months of age to 2.5 years, some having older school-aged siblings (5-9 years old.)

Experience

I am a super go with the flow person who loves to laugh a lot. I love animals! I'm very outgoing and love to talk but I am an introvert at the same time, and enjoy time to relax. Something true about me that really makes me great with kids is that I have a child-like imagination and I love to play. I don't take things too seriously, and love to let children explore and do things that interest them, as long as it's safe. With that being said, I also have a background in lesson and activity planning, so I find a lot of joy in setting up activities as well, to supervise or join in with kids. I hope to work as a teacher or in social/legal programs when I graduate. I have certifications in lifeguarding, CPR, and principles of raising healthy children. I am always reading literature, most notably on montessori principles, but I'd love to look into whatever philosophy you identify with!
