My name is Joseph, and I am a 20-year-old student from the UK with a passion for working with children and immersing myself in new cultures. As the oldest of four boys in a single-parent household, I have been actively involved in caring for my younger brothers since I was 16, which has given me extensive experience in babysitting, managing routines, and creating a nurturing environment for children. I am excited to apply for an Au Pair position, as it combines my love for childcare with my desire to experience life in a new cultural setting.

I have always enjoyed working with children, whether through mentoring, teaching, or simply spending time with them. As a University Student Mentor with IntoUniversity, I supported young students from disadvantaged backgrounds and varied age groups, helping them achieve academic success and personal growth. For example, I have mentored students between the ages of 11-17 for almost 3 years, and I was recognised with a certificate of excellence for my contributions. Additionally, my role as a Student Ambassador at UCL involved working with younger students, delivering campus tours, and presenting to large groups, which honed my communication and interpersonal skills.

I also demonstrated my commitment to helping children by completing the London Landmarks Half Marathon, raising £700 for The Children’s Trust, a charity supporting children with neurodisabilities. Furthermore, my experience extends beyond childcare to include responsibility and adaptability in high-pressure environments. For instance, my time as Front of House Staff at Olivo Ristorante Italiano taught me how to manage multiple tasks efficiently while ensuring a positive experience for others.

I believe my background makes me well-suited for an Au Pair role. I am patient, creative, and empathetic, with a strong sense of responsibility and a genuine love for working with children. My proficiency in Spanish and experience mentoring young people also allow me to support children’s learning and development in a fun and engaging way.
