Letter to the family

Hi my name is McKenzie, I am a 23 year old Australian who is traveling the world.

I am keen to see the world and explore other cultures, languages and ways of life.

I am currently a lifeguard at my town pool. During parts of the day look out for kids and sometimes playing water or ball games with them whilst watching the water and ensuring everyone's safety.

Throughout high school I babysat, worked in a bakery and at a hospital as a trainee nurse. I am interested in baking and cooking, unfortunately I haven't been able to do much of the baking lately.

I've spent the last two years traveling to Ireland and Japan, working in restaurant kitchens starting as a dishwasher and then making my way to chef. Personally I don't think I'm the best chef but I try and have plenty of new ideas to try out.

Experience

My childcare experience includes babysitting starting from the age of 13 to 17 years old. I oversaw multiple children for hours at a time with responsibilities such as cooking meals, helping with schoolwork, playing with the children and house cleaning.

Whilst in Japan, I have been a part of two households with children through a website Workaway. The first was an afterschool English program in Nagasaki where I and other volunteers would care for around 8 children, cooking with them, playing educational games, and engaging with them in English.

Then I moved to Tokyo where I was a au-pair for three children, take them to and from school and outer school activities, occasionally cooking dinner and weekend care.
