Hello! My name is Camila, and I’m in my third semester of Early Childhood Education at Oxford International College in Halifax, Canada. I’m passionate about working with children and have gained valuable hands-on experience through two successful practicums, where I supported children’s learning and development in a warm, inclusive environment. I received excellent feedback from my professors, supervisors, and peers, which has helped me grow both personally and professionally.

Before coming to Canada, I completed teaching practicums in primary classrooms in Colombia, where I developed strong skills in managing daily routines, engaging children through play, and supporting their emotional and social development. I am bilingual in English and Spanish, which allows me to connect easily with children and families from diverse cultural backgrounds.

I want to become an Au Pair & Nanny because I genuinely enjoy building meaningful relationships with children and supporting their growth in everyday life. I find joy in creating safe, caring, and stimulating environments where children can thrive emotionally, socially, and cognitively.

Experience

I have strong and proven experience as both an Au Pair and a Nanny, providing high-quality care to children in Canada and Colombia. I worked full-time from February to December 2023 as a caregiver in Colombia for children aged 1, and from January to August 2024 in Toronto, Canada, caring for children aged 4 and 6.

During these roles, I was responsible not only for the children’s physical care but also for their emotional, cognitive, and social development. According to the families I’ve worked with, I consistently demonstrated dedication, punctuality, strong pedagogical knowledge, and the ability to build meaningful connections with the children in my care.

I planned and led educational and recreational activities, such as storytelling, arts and crafts, and outdoor play, always to create a safe, enriching, and nurturing environment. I’m especially proud of the way I integrated learning into daily routines and used creativity to make each day enjoyable and educational. I’m also highly organized, adaptable, and able to manage time effectively, even while balancing my childcare work with academic responsibilities.

Both families have described me as responsible, warm, intuitive, and reliable, with strong communication skills and a genuine passion for child development.

Becoming an Au Pair and Nanny abroad is an opportunity that aligns perfectly with both my personal values and professional goals. I am currently studying Early Childhood Education and deeply enjoy working with children, helping them grow, learn, and feel supported. Living with a host family abroad would allow me to experience cultural exchange while offering my caregiving skills and educational background in return.

I believe that working abroad as an Au Pair & Nanny will expand my perspective as an educator, improve my intercultural communication, and help me become even more adaptable and resourceful.
