Letter to the family

Hello everyone!

I'm Hiljahenna, happy 25 years old forest science student from Finland. Currently I'm finishing my studies, working as a part-time Finnish language tutor and dreaming about the future adventures. One of my possible wishes is to move to Italy, after learning the language for a while now. My second option is to stay for a while in Czech republic, since I stayed there the whole year 2020 and ended up falling in love with this beautiful country.

I used to be an au pair in Ireland before starting the university during 2015. I worked for a lovely Kenian-Irish family who I'm still in connect with. I'm also an auntie for two wonderful nephews and three absolutely awesome nieces, and a godmother for one adorable girl. I have always loved being around children - I like goofing around with them, and one of the best things is to be able to see the world via their eyes. I also absolutely love to see them learn new things about the beautiful world around us.

Now I'm trying to find possible host family or child/children who could I take care of. I would be available some time in the end of this year/start of next year, but the starting time is negotiable. I do enjoy cooking, taking care of the house, and goofing around with kids. I'm good what comes to keeping places tidy and especially people (and small people) happy! I'm native in Finnish, I speak excellent English, I have worked with Swedish and I do know tiny bit of Russian. Currently I'm studying Italian on a weekly basis.

Maybe the trickiest thing is, that I would like to take my 8 years old dog with me. She's the best dog no-one could ever wish and I don't want to leave her behind. So I'm trying my luck if I could find a family who would accept us both. In ideal situation I would like to have my "own place". So for example cabin behind the yard/room with separate entrance/or I can just simply rent my own apartment. My dog is happy "grandma", who loves everyone and still acts like a puppy despite her age.

I would also (maybe) like to continue with my remote job as a language tutor, since I simply love my students and the job itself. This work takes a place between 3pm to 6pm (or 2pm-5pm) during the weekdays (Mon-Fri), but I can also take less hours/days than that. My second job would also be very helpful if I will end up renting my own place from somewhere close to you.

Other than all that, I do enjoy spending time outdoors no matter the weather (maybe a bit less when it's rainy), listening music and online books, taking long walks with my dog and spending time with my friends & family. I consider myself to be a "people person", even though I also enjoy restful evenings spend alone by watching a movie or taking an online yoga session. One of my biggest dreams is to one day have my own coffee/bed & breakfast place somewhere around the globe.

I'm happy to discuss about more details, tips, or simply if you want to have a chat!

Kind regards from sunny Finland,
Hiljahenna and

Experience

I have been taking care of the children a lot during my life. I think the first experiences are with my two little brothers, who are 9 and 11 years younger than me. When I was in a vocational school I used to also take care of two children from my friend family for in total maybe three years, it was absolutely lovely to see them grow during that time! I have also been an au pair in Ireland before starting the university during 2015. I worked for a lovely Kenyan-Irish family who I'm still in connect with. I'm also an auntie for two wonderful nephews and three absolutely awesome nieces, and a godmother for one adorable girl. So it is safe to say I have always loved being around children, and I wish to continue doing that in the future.

I am also huge fan of learning from other cultures and places, and I think that the best way to do that is definitely by travelling to new countries and meeting people from all over the world. Being an au pair/nanny abroad is an awesome way to truly learn about local culture and life, that's something I learned already when I was an au pair in Ireland.
