Letter to the family

Hello! My name is Maggie, and I am currently entering my fourth year at the University of Toronto in Toronto, Canada. I am studying English and Equity Studies, which explores topics like colonialism, racism, and capitalism. I studied French throughout primary and secondary school and into my first year at university at the intermediate level, and would love to continue learning the language. I love learning about other cultures, and I think being immersed, with the help of a welcoming family, would be a wonderful experience for me.

I currently work as a lifeguard and swim instructor and have experience teaching children of all ages in private and group settings, in addition to adult private lessons, on swim survival skills and techniques. I am passionate about my job and love working with kids - they are so much fun! The job requires me to regularly update my instructing and lifesaving certifications, including CPR. I also have experience tutoring children with English language skills and basic math!

I am hardworking and adaptable, and I would be happy to assist around the house and with children and pets in any way I can. I am an active and creative person, and would love to plan and partake in family activities. I am looking forward to hearing from you!

Experience

I have lots of experience teaching and would love to apply my skills to new situations that challenge and excite me.

As a tutor, I have been experience being trained by Oxford Learning to adapt my teaching according to each students' unique learning styles in reading and writing, and basic math skills. As someone who is university-educated in English literature, I am passionate about reading and analyzing pieces of texts to understand them in different ways. I am well-equipped with Zoom and Microsoft Teams to teach in an online format and creative to conduct fun and interesting exercises with online students!

As an au-pair, I want to expand my French language skills and practice in real-life situations while meeting new and interesting people. I think teaching is such a fulfilling experience and since I am already comfortable in this position, I am open and willing to be put into new situations and learn, in return.
