Letter to the family

I’m currently in college studying Business Marketing and Accounting, with a minor in Social Care. I’m completing my program online, which gives me the flexibility to balance my studies while working as an au pair. I’m currently with a host family, but my placement is ending soon, and I’m now looking forward to joining a new family for my next adventure.

I come from a big, loving family with five siblings — I’m the second youngest, but I’ve always taken on a mature and caring role. I practically raised my younger sister, which taught me early on how to be responsible, patient, and nurturing. We also have two beautiful cats who are very much part of our family!

My mom works as a home nurse, and because of her job, I began babysitting at a young age — I was only 11 when I started caring for her clients’ children. Over the years, I’ve gained a lot of experience looking after kids of different ages, and now both my family and friends fully trust me with their little ones.

Before moving to Canada, I spent a year living with my grandmother in Lyon, France. That time helped me grow even more independent and allowed me to connect deeply with different culture — something I’m excited to return to and experience again.

Hello! My name is Sehaam and I’m a dedicated childcare worker with college education, certified first aid training (for both children and adults), and over 300 hours of childcare experience in the past two years. I’m a non-smoker with a valid passport, a driver’s license (with experience), and strong swimming and biking skills — making me well-equipped for active, on-the-go families!

I currently work in daycare and have years of experience babysitting in Toronto and Quebec. I also helped raise my younger sister while pursuing my education online, so I understand the patience, love, and flexibility that childcare demands. Kids genuinely inspire me to be my best self, and I love entertaining them, whether it’s through fun games, reading, or outdoor adventures. I’m double-jointed and flexible (a hit with the little ones!) and can easily connect with children of all ages.

I speak French fluently, along with intermediate Italian, a bit of German (from summers spent in Germany), and advanced Somali. I’m currently studying Business, Marketing, Communication, and Mathematics, and I’m more than happy to help older kids with homework and learning activities.

Culturally, I’m very open and curious — I love trying and cooking dishes from around the world (thank you, mom, for teaching me to be independent in the kitchen!). I enjoy going out, exploring new places, and learning about different cultures and traditions. Traveling is one of my biggest passions, and I would love to join a family that enjoys exploring the world too.

I grew up with an au pair from Russia named Sasha, and she left such a lasting, positive impact on my life that I’ve always dreamed of becoming an au pair myself. This opportunity means the world to me — to care for children, learn from them, and grow alongside a loving host family in a new cultural environment.

I’m currently an Au Pair for two lovely children in Hamilton, Canada, where I’ve had the joy of supporting a kind and active family. My time with them is coming to an end, and I'm now looking forward to continuing my journey as an Au Pair in Europe.
