Hello! My Name is Donna-Maria, piacere!
I am searching for a short/mid term stay with a family which will become a part of my own. I have travelled a lot during the past 2 years, despite the pandemic!
My experience with children is extremely rich and diverse! First of all, I am the eldest of four children which means I was always helping and supporting my family from a young age. My experience working professionally with children began working as a scout leader at a SEN (special educational needs) school.
I have specialised and worked with many age groups of children with varying abilities. I am extremely knowledgeable on supporting children with Autism as well, and have worked as self employed behaviour analyst (ABA tutor) for a few years alongside my main work and studies.
I have worked in several schools as a short term post teaching assistant. I have extensive experience with children that have additional needs as my sister has a rare syndrome…I have also been her carer for one year which means I am familiar with personal care changes, de-escalation strategies etc…. My general work as a teaching assistant experience was incredibly valuable and gave me an incredible insight into academic structures and pedagogy. But at the end of the day my time as a teaching assistant mostly warmed my heart, receiving hand drawn cards and thank you letters at the end of a post was so wonderful.
In my most recent position 2020-2021 I worked as a Nursery teacher in Germany (DAI Deutch-Amerikanisches Institut) which has been an absolute joy. I have developed EVERY trick in the book to engage and support a young childs development and growth. My personal approach is always centred around a childs interest and natural flow.
