Letter to the family

Hello, nice to meet you!

My name is Jolieke, I am a 28 year old woman currently living in the Netherlands. I am an open minded and flexibel person that loves to be outside. I studied pedagogics and love to work with children because they are our future! It motivates me to teach them, and also learn from them. I love to see them develop and grow up. I'm a big supporter of Au pair programs, because I believe "it takes a village to raise a child". As a child, I grew up in a multicultural neighbourhood with different babysitters. This diversity teached me a lot about different kinds of cultures, religions and people and made me who I am today.

At the moment I work in youth care and I really enjoy my job. I work with children between 6 - 12 years old with slight intellectual dissabilites. It's a hard decision to stop this job to work abroad, but it's a dream I would like to fullfill.

Experience

I studied Pedagogics in university. In this study I learned a lot about the develpment and needs of children and had 3 different internships. In the 3rd year of this study I started an internship in an after-school treatment center, and now I work here full time.

In this treatment center I work with children between 6 - 12 years old with slight intellectual dissabilites and behavioral problems like autism, ADHD, anxiety disorders, etc. My collegues and me try to help this childrens to develop and learn how to live with their dissability. All of this we do in a playfull house-like setting. We write treatment plans, are in contact with the parents and other people who are involved in the care taking of this child.

It's a hard decision to stop this job to work abroad, but it's a dream I would like to fullfill.
