Letter to the family

My name is Hulda Bjorg, and I’m excited about the opportunity to introduce myself to you. I am the proud mother of two wonderful grown daughters, whom I raised as a single parent. I grew up in a small town in Iceland with a population of about 450 people, and I am the youngest of six siblings. I now reside in the capital, Reykjavík, which is home to about 8,000 people.
For the past seven years, I have worked as a project manager at the Vocational Training Fund office, and more recently, I have transitioned into working independently as a barber. My background includes studies in hairdressing, barbering, beautician services, accounting. In addition to my current profession, I have experience working in a variety of roles that have allowed me to develop strong interpersonal and caregiving skills. I am now at the time in my life that I can take the time to explore and try new things. I want to live my life to the fullest, add adventure to my life, meet interesting people and make memories and friendships.

I am excited about the possibility of becoming a part of your family and contributing my skills, warmth, and enthusiasm to support your needs. If you would like to know more about me feel free to ask.

Experience

I’ve had the privilege of working in a nursing home hair salon and as an assistant in a group home for individuals with disabilities and those recovering from accidents, strokes, or other traumas. These experiences have taught me the importance of empathy, patience, and adaptability—qualities that I know will be valuable in both childcare and elderly caregiving.
One of my most cherished experiences was spending a year as an au pair in Virginia, USA, in 1993. I lived with a family who had two boys, and I truly loved that time. It was a great opportunity to connect with a family, learn about a different culture, and provide care and support in a meaningful way.
In addition to my professional experience, I believe I bring a warm and caring presence to every environment. I am fun-loving, and I enjoy having engaging conversations about anything and everything. I truly believe that building meaningful relationships through communication is one of the keys to successful caregiving and childcare.
I always approach caregiving with the belief that it’s about more than just providing for physical needs—it's also about fostering trust, respect, and joy. Whether it’s finding creative ways to solve problems or offering a listening ear when someone needs it most, I always strive to ensure that the people I care for feel comfortable, valued, and empowered.
