Letter to the family
Dear Future Host Families,
I hope this message finds you well! My name is Hanna, and I am excited to introduce myself as a potential Au Pair for your family. I am (two weeks away from being) 20 years old, from Houston, Texas. I am currently an undergraduate studying social work at Baylor University. Throughout my studies, I've developed a deep understanding of child development, emotional well-being, and the importance of nurturing relationships with children. I’ve always been passionate about working with kids, and I am eager to apply my knowledge and creativity in a more hands-on way as an Au Pair.
I’ve always believed that the best way to engage children is to encourage them to use their imagination and creativity. While screens can occasionally be fun, I think that children should primarily be playing, creating, and exploring the world around them. I love finding creative ways to entertain kids, whether through arts and crafts, outdoor activities, or interactive games that let them explore their creativity. Being able to facilitate that kind of imaginative play is something I truly enjoy. It’s not only a fun way for children to learn and grow, but also a great way to bond with them. I want to create an environment where your children feel encouraged to think, play, and dream—without relying too much on technology.
As an Au Pair, I would bring a balance of fun and responsibility. I have experience working with children in various settings, including working in an aftercare program, working in a nursery and a daycare, babysitting, volunteering for the local child advocacy centre, my experiences babysitting was even auctioned off for a night! I’ve learned how to keep children entertained while ensuring they are safe and developing in a positive environment. With my background in social work, I also understand the emotional and developmental needs of children, so I can create activities that support both their growth and their happiness.
I’m flexible and adaptable, and I would love to get to know your family’s routine and needs. Whether it’s helping with homework, preparing meals, or assisting with light household chores, I am happy to contribute in whatever way I can. I know that every family has its own unique rhythm, and I’m eager to become part of that while supporting your children’s development and well-being.
I believe that my combination of experience, creativity, and passion for children would make me a great fit for your family. I would be honored to help your children learn, grow, and enjoy their childhood, while also learning from you and your culture. Thank you for considering me as your Au Pair—I’m truly excited about the possibility of joining your family, and I hope to hear from you soon.
Warm regards,
Hanna A.
