Letter to the family

I am Eilidh (pronounced like Hayley without the H), a Final Year Neuroscience Major at the University of St Andrews in Scotland, UK. I have always been passionate about working with children and building trust with others. I would love to become an Au Pair to provide support for a family while doing what I truly enjoy. I do not have a preference for where I work or for how many children, I am open to all families!

Experience

I have lots of experience working with children in the UK. I have been babysitting for local families from the age of 16. I worked at a nearby trampoline park for a few years where I was in charge of children's safety at the park and lead group activities and children's birthday parties. At high school I ran an after school fitness club for students of all ages to keep fit and have fun. I found this very rewarding to motivate and help young people meet and exceed their fitness goals. Furthermore, I was a Girl Scout leader for my local Brownie's group where I ran arts, crafts and activities and attended camping trips. During my time at university I have been a Research Assistant at the St Andrews Baby and Child Lab. This research facility aims to better understand how children develop mentally, socially, and emotionally. My role was helping to soothe children and nervous families prior to testing and to take care of any siblings while testing was ongoing. I branched out of the research lab to run an outreach program to teach children in the local communities about the brain and the fundamentals of Neuroscience to encourage more young women into a career in STEM. I would like to become an Au Pair abroad as I love travelling and the USA. It is a beautiful country and I wish to immerse myself in the local culture.
