Letter to the family

Dear Host Family,

My name is Kiah, and I’m a 21-year-old Jamaican student. I hold a high school diploma with honours, an associate degree in Environmental Science, and I’m currently pursuing a BSc in Geoscience at the University of the West Indies. I’m passionate about learning, exploring new cultures, and working with people—and I’m excited to take on the experience of becoming an au pair and live-in tutor abroad.

Over the past five years, I’ve worked closely with children in different environments. I began by helping with kids in my local church, and later volunteered with Digicel Foundation Jamaica for three years in both educational and special needs programs. I also helped run a robotics summer camp for pre-teens over two summers, and most recently worked with Vikings Swim Club in an administrative role, supporting a large team of children and teens. These experiences have helped me build patience, empathy, and strong communication skills with kids of all ages.

I want to become an au pair because I genuinely enjoy supporting children and contributing to their development. I'm eager to be a helping hand in your home—whether that’s tutoring in English, assisting with daily routines, or simply being someone your children can laugh and feel safe with.

You should host me because I’m kind, responsible, and adaptable. I respect boundaries, I’m a quick learner, and I’ll treat your home and family with care. I’m excited to be immersed in a new culture, share my own, and make meaningful memories along the way.

Warmly,
Sarah

Experience

Though I haven’t worked formally as an au pair, I’ve had the privilege of working with children in various settings, including educational programs, summer camps, and community activities. I’m drawn to becoming an au pair because I’m passionate about supporting children in their everyday lives and contributing to their growth. I’m excited about the opportunity to live abroad, immerse myself in a new culture, and make a positive impact on the lives of the children I care for while gaining valuable life experience.
