Letter to the family

Dear Host Family,

My name is Michaela, I’m from the Czech Republic—the heart of Europe—and I’m really excited about the opportunity to become your Au Pair and be part of your family.

I’m an extroverted, social person with a big love for children. From a young age, I’ve felt a natural connection with them, and I truly enjoy being someone they can trust, laugh with, and learn from. I’m also very active and full of energy—I love basketball, volleyball, skiing, and really any kind of sport, so I’d love to bring that fun and active spirit into your family too. I also really love cooking and baking all types of meals, I would be happy to exchange recipes.

I’m currently studying economics, and I’ve decided to take a gap year before university to explore my passion for working with children. I plan to study child psychology, and I see this year as a perfect opportunity to learn more about kids, while also getting to know a new culture and way of life.

One year ago, I spent half a year studying in the USA, which helped me become more independent and confident in myself. I had a host-family there and we created life lasting connection. It also really improved my English—so much that when I came back, I completed the Cambridge certificate C1. That experience made me realize how much I love connecting with new people and growing as a person, which is exactly what I hope to do again as an Au Pair.

Why should you host me? Because I’m someone who brings warmth, energy, and genuine care into a home. I want to be more than just a helper—I want to become a big sister, a friend, and a support to your children. I’m kind, responsible, and respectful of your home and values. I’ll bring positive energy, a love for kids, and an interest in your culture. I see this not just as a job, but as a meaningful exchange, and I would be so grateful to share this journey with you.

I’m experienced in both childcare and helping with household tasks. I’m used to spending time with children of different ages and needs, and I also have no problem helping out around the house—whether it’s cooking, tidying, or supporting the daily routine.

Experience

I have always loved being around children and spending time with them comes naturally to me. Over the past few years, I’ve gained experience by regularly helping two families with their children, where I play with them, speak English, and assist with their daily routines. I also volunteer every Sunday at my church, where I work with a child with autism. These experiences have taught me how to be responsible, patient, and supportive in different situations.

What draws me to the Au Pair & Nanny experience abroad is the chance to do what I love—working with children—while also discovering a new culture and way of life. I think there is something very special about becoming part of a family in another country. It's not just about helping with the kids, but also learning from each other, sharing everyday moments, and building a strong connection.

I imagine my time abroad filled with simple but meaningful things—getting the kids ready for school, playing games, going for walks, reading books, and being someone they feel happy and safe around. I would also love to share some of my own culture with the family and learn yours in return. I believe this kind of experience helps you grow as a person and teaches you so much more than you can learn from books or school.
