Letter to the family
Hello! My name is Jacinta. I am 25 years old, from England, and I have been living in Ciudad Real in Spain for the last year playing semi-professional football with a team here. I am looking to move to a bigger city next year to work as an Au Pair, continue improving my Spanish, and experience more of Spanish culture.
I would describe myself as a social and friendly person. I love to meet people from new countries and learn about cultures different from my own. I am very sporty and always happy to kick around a football and talk about the latest La Liga results. I like to read the news and discuss what is going on in the world, and I am a bit of a nerd who loves fun facts (for example, do you know why the English drive on the left side of the road?).
I come from a family of four. My parents are both semi-retired and live in York in the North of England. I have one younger sister (Gabriella) who is currently in her last year at university in the United States studying Biology. We are a little spread out geographically but a close family socially. We keep connected by a weekly family WhatsApp call on Sundays and family holidays together during the summer and winter breaks.
I grew up in several countries as my Dad worked in international development so we moved around a lot for his job. I spent most of my school years, aged 5-16, in Uganda in East Africa. When I was 16 my family moved to North Carolina in the United States where I completed my last three years of school. I then moved to Pennsylvania for university where I attended Swarthmore College for four years, studying Political Science and Economics, and graduating in 2025. I really enjoyed both my time in Uganda and in the United States.
For languages, I am a native English speaker with a Southern English accent (my family is from Kent, about one hour east of London). I have spent one year in Spain living with two Spanish girls, playing on a Spanish football team, and studying Spanish online. I am still learning, but have achieved a basic level of Spanish and I am hoping to continue to improve.
I am looking for an Au Pair stay in the range of 8-11 months. I am happy to work Monday-Fridays but would like evenings and weekends for myself to be able to explore the city I am living in and make friends with other people my age. I am very happy to take care of children, provide cooking and cleaning services for the family, and pick and drop off children from school and other activities as needed (I have a driver’s license).
I look forward to meeting you and your family! Please feel free to reach out with any questions you have.
