Letter to the family

Hi there, I'm Emily!
I'm a first year student at University College London studying Philosophy (which I love!) I have three years experience as a teaching assistant at my local theatre group 'Stage Coach', as well as six months working as a Recruitment Administrator at my local hospital, and of course, lots of babysitting experience! I have babysat for three different families, looking after children aged 1-10 years old. I have also two young nieces, 18 months old and 8 years old! This means I've experienced childcare tasks from overnight shifts to meal and bedtimes, as well as homework help and educational play. During term time, I also nanny three days a week. I am looking for some summer work from July for one to three months.

Experience

I love spending time with children and watching them learn. I have taken a specific interest in their development. This has lead me to research into food and nutrition in my spare time, such as reading Dr. Chris Van Tulekan's 'Ultraprocessed People' and the 'Secrets of the Blue Zones' documentaries. I've furthered my research in parenting styles, participating in Koru Kids' 'Nurturing Little Ones' and First Aid courses, as well as delving into 'gentle parenting' practices by looking at more holistic approaches to issues such as tantrums and meltdowns. I'd love to continue my child care into my summer- ideally travelling whilst doing so! I spent a year between school and University travelling different destinations such as the US and Greece, finding my style of solo travel. I am adventurous as a cook, exclusively making meals from scratch. I regularly host dinner parties for family and friends, serving foods such as fresh pasta, fresh bread, hummus from scratch and of course the Sunday roast! I am more than happy to shop, cook, clean and do housework as I am very confident in all these tasks and enjoy teaching practical skills to the children in my care.
