Letter to the family

My name is Alejandra, and I’m a 28-year-old educator born in Colombia but raised in London and Italy. I am based in London with a background in teaching and a head of year in a secondary school. I also have experience in youth mentorship, and special educational needs support. I currently work as an Alternative Provision Specialist, tutoring children with special educational needs, behavioural challenges, and those who are currently outside of mainstream education. Alongside this, I also manage partnerships for an organisation that empowers young people from underrepresented backgrounds.

This summer, I am looking to become a Nanny & Live-in Tutor as I’ll be on a break from my teaching role and will have the flexibility to work 2-3 hours remotely in my other position. I’m eager to combine my love for education, care, and cultural exchange in a warm home environment. I see this as a meaningful way to support a family while sharing my experience, languages, and creativity.

I would be delighted to be hosted by a family that values kindness, structure, and the joy of learning. I bring a calm, supportive, and fun energy to the children I work with. Whether it’s through tutoring, creative play, storytelling, or outdoor adventures, I love helping children grow in confidence and curiosity.

With over six years of experience across primary and secondary education—including roles as Head of Year and Head of Department—I’m well-prepared to support your child’s learning and emotional wellbeing. I’m also fluent in English, Spanish, and Italian, which can be a wonderful asset for families looking to foster a multilingual environment or preserve their cultural heritage.

Thank you for considering my application. I’d love the opportunity to speak further and explore how I can contribute positively to your family life this summer.

Experience

I have previous experience as a live-in nanny during my Erasmus year in Bologna, Italy, where I supported a local family with childcare, tutoring, and household routines. This experience was incredibly rewarding and sparked my love for working in a home setting, building trust with children, and contributing to their growth and learning in a nurturing way. Additionally, I was a carer for my younger sister from the time she was a newborn until she was four years old. Being actively involved in her daily care gave me a strong sense of responsibility from a young age and taught me how to be gentle, organised, and attentive to a child’s needs. I would love to become a Nanny & Live-in Tutor abroad again because I enjoy forming meaningful bonds with children and families, experiencing new cultures, and offering both educational support and emotional care in a home environment. It’s a beautiful way to combine my passion for teaching with cultural exchange.
