Letter to the family

Hi families!
Thank you for your time and consideration. My name is Mikayla. I am a 23 year old American looking to be matched with my first host family. I have a formal education in Biology (B.S. in Biological sciences with a minor in Psychology) from Barrett, Honors College at Arizona State University. Though, I love to read and write. I have an affinity for travel and meeting new people. I lived in Manchester, England, for 6 months for my study abroad. I also have lived in Paris, France for two months, for another study opportunity. I am a very creative, reliable and kind individual. I’m keen to discourse on just about any topic, but I am particularly passionate about movies, music, and literature!

I want to become an Aupair because I love children. I think that they are the purest, kindest souls that grace this earth, and we have a lot to learn from them! I hope that I would be able to make half as much of an impact in your child’s life as they are bound to make in mine. I am an only child, and I have always loved being friends with or dating people who have large families. I love to feel immersed in another family and accept them as I would my own flesh and blood.

I am an easy going individual, tidy housemate, and very considerate. I believe that I would make a wonderful addition to your home because I was taught how to anticipate the needs of others and offer genuine care and support from my two lovely parents (whom I consider my best friends!). I offer a variety of skills that are beneficial to most households including my affinity for cleaning (I find it therapeutic and very important for mental health to have a clean environment), cooking (specifically, I love to bake!), a driver’s license (should you or your child need a ride somewhere), and above all else, a caring companion!

I am qualified for this position because I understand how important quality relationships and experiences are for children. I have taken many developmental psychology courses that have equipped me with the knowledge of how best to communicate and care for children of multiple age ranges. I was a volunteer at the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Eastern Wisconsin for one year, This experience allowed me to gain valuable memories with children of all ages (0-15+). In this role, it was essential to bring a positive and uplifting attitude for both the children and their caretakers. Additionally, I have experience babysitting the two girls who lived next door to me (ages 8 and 10) for the entirety of my high school years. Moreover, I was a teaching assistant during my last year of university, which gave me insight on how to most effectively teach subjects (particularly reading and English) to young adults.

Experience

Currently, I am seeking my first Au Pair opportunity, so I do not have any prior experience to report. However, I can say that from this opportunity I hope to gain a valuable, life long connection to a loving family. I want to become an Au Pair to hopefully make an impact in someone’s life. I still remember the names of my favorite teachers from elementary school and the insights they provided me. I hope to be encouraging and inspirational to one child in the way that these role models have been for me.

As previously mentioned, I am keen to live abroad because I love to travel and meet new people! My number one priority Au Pairing would be to ensure your child has a wonderful experience. I think it would be lovely for them to have the opportunity to interact with someone from a different country at such a young age, as it would help them to learn about other cultures.
