Letter to the family

Dear Host Family,

My name is Alejandra, I’m 21 years old, and I come from Spain.
I’m currently doing a Master’s degree in Styling and Creative Direction, and I’m also certified as both a Flight Attendant and a Leisure and Free Time Activity Leader, which reflects my passion for new cultures, adventure, and working with people.

I would love to become your next Au Pair, not only because I enjoy taking care of children, but because I see this experience as a beautiful opportunity to grow personally, learn about your culture, and create meaningful bonds within your family.

Since I was 15, I’ve been caring for children in different contexts—from supervising after-school activities and helping with homework, to taking kids to school and even looking after babies.
Currently, I work as a private tutor and teach extracurricular English classes at a school to children of different ages (3/4 and 10).
I’ve also worked as a camp monitor, which has helped me connect with many different personalities and adapt to all kinds of situations and needs.

My native language is Spanish, but I’ve been learning English since I was five years old, so I feel comfortable using it in my everyday life.
I also speak a bit of German and learned basic Dutch while living in the Netherlands for two years.
During that time, I studied Fashion Design at university and also cared for a 5-month-old baby, which allowed me to gain valuable hands-on childcare experience.

I would describe myself as kind, polite, cheerful, empathetic and caring. I truly enjoy appreciating the little things in life— simple moments like sitting in the sun or watching people pass by.
I'm also quite a nostalgic person—I find a lot of joy in remembering special memories and moments from my life. At the same time, I'm very driven and love having new goals and plans that keep me motivated and excited about the future.

Experience

What motivates me to become an Au Pair is the opportunity to build genuine and meaningful connections with children and to be part of a family in a new cultural environment. I've always enjoyed creating bonds with the people around me, but especially with kids— I feel that the connection you create with them is truly sincere and special which makes me want to spend more time with them.

I have a younger sister, so I think that protective and caring instinct has been with me since I was little. When it comes to caring for other children, I’ve been doing it since I was 15 years old. I started by looking after kids during after-school activities while they waited for their parents.
Since then, I've cared for children in many different situations, like taking them to school, helping them with homework, and even looking after babies.

I also work as a private teacher, so I'm in constant contact with them, and this school year I'm teaching extracurricular English classes in a school with children of various ages (3/4 and 10)
I also work as a monitor in camps and other settings, which has taught me how to handle different situations and connect with a wide variety of personalities and needs.
