Letter to the family
My name is Ella, and I'm a 19-year-old university student from the UK currently studying Biomedical Sciences at Bath Spa University. I’m excited at the opportunity to become an au pair and I would love to introduce myself properly.
I’ve always loved working with children, growing up with a younger sister who is now nine, I naturally took on a caring role and discovered how rewarding it is to help children learn and grow. I’ve built on that experience by working as a part-time nanny for 1.5 years with a wonderful family, caring for their 3 and 5 year old children. I've also spent over 4 years volunteering and working in various childcare settings, including with toddlers and young children.
I’m hoping to become an au pair because I want to combine my passion for childcare and building a meaningful connection with your children. I’m interested in working anywhere across the world, and although I only speak English fluently, I can understand basic French and would love to improve it during my stay. I am available for 2-4 months during my time off from university (starting early June), but also have long breaks during Christmas and Easter where I'd be more than happy to return.
As a host family, you can expect someone who is dependable, caring, and enthusiastic. I'm organised and have strong time management skills from balancing university, work, and sports. I’m also very active and love all kinds of sport, especially rugby (I play at university and previously represented my county), as well as swimming and netball. I enjoy cooking and would be happy to help prepare meals and get the children involved. I play the piano (completed Grade 7 but currently a bit out of practice!) and completed Grade 7 musical theatre with distinction. I’d also be more than happy to support your children with homework or learning activities, depending on their age and needs, as I know how important that part of their routine can be. After my biomedical science degree, I'm hoping to complete a law conversion and go into medical law as I have huge a passion for medicine and science, as well as a strong belief in justice and ethics.
With my background and genuine love for children, I believe I’d be a positive and helpful addition to your family. I also hold a full driver’s licence and am comfortable with children from ages one and up.
Thank you so much for considering me as your au pair. I’d love to hear more about your family and what you’re looking for, and I’d be thrilled to become a temporary part of your home.
Warm wishes, Ella.
