Letter to the family
My name is Laura Moncada, and I am passionate about international cultures and working with children. I would love the opportunity to be your au pair and collaborate with your family, learning more about your culture and helping with childcare.
I am 22 years old and Colombian. I have experience in childcare, having worked with young children and adolescents, and I know how to provide them with care, support, and fun in a safe and responsible manner. I am also a ninth-semester social work student, which has allowed me to have different experiences with children and adolescents. I have an A1 level of English and would like to improve my language skills while sharing my culture with your family.
My family consists of my mother, Adriana (58 years old), and my father, Jaime (58 years old). I live with them in our home in Medellín, Colombia. I also have a pet, Canela, who has been with us for two years. I have an older sister, Sara (30 years old), who currently lives in Germany with her husband. We are a close-knit family and love spending time together, traveling, learning about new cultures, and always being in touch with nature. My mother is a nurse specializing in breastfeeding and childcare; my father is an industrial technician. My sister studies nutrition and works in a kindergarten in the city where she lives. I graduated from high school in 2019 from a Catholic school in Medellín. I am currently studying social work and am in my ninth semester. Throughout my studies, I have had many opportunities to put everything I've learned into practice, working with children, mothers, communities, and families, and discovering more and more each day that I feel a deep love and commitment to my profession.
I nannyed in Germany several times, and I also took care of my younger cousins when they were babies. Throughout my professional career, I am constantly around children and adolescents. I am very affectionate and empathetic with them, very patient with them, and I love spending time with them. I always try to make them feel comfortable and happy. I consider myself a responsible, kind, and organized person. I love spending time with children, playing, and doing different activities they enjoy. I'm also available to help with light housework and will gladly adapt my routine to your family's needs.
I really enjoy spending time with my family, spending time outdoors, and going for walks. I also enjoy being at home, watching a movie. I was a high-performance water polo athlete for approximately five years. I love swimming and biking, eating out, and exploring new places.
My main motivation for being an au pair is the opportunity to live a unique cultural experience, learn a new language, and, above all, connect with a family in another country. I love the idea of helping care for children while teaching them about my culture and learning about theirs. I also want to improve my language skills and develop new skills, both in childcare and in living with others. I believe being an au pair will allow me to grow personally, learn about different customs, and, at the same time, offer support and love to a family that needs my help.
My expectations as an au pair are to have an enriching experience both personally and professionally. I hope to establish a good relationship with the family, be part of their daily lives, and, at the same time, enjoy the opportunity to learn about their culture and customs. I would like to improve my language skills, both through practical work with children and through daily interaction with the family. I also hope to develop my childcare skills, sharing my time and creativity with them, while also learning to be more independent and responsible. In short, I hope this experience will help me grow as a person and provide me with valuable memories and lessons.
