Hi there, My name is Oliver. Im a 19 year old boy from Melbourne, Australia.

The reason I would like to be an Au Pair for one of you is most importantly I find hanging around/ taking care of kids and teenagers rewarding. I like to think of my self as a bridge, I’m still young enough to connect and have a laugh with the kids, but alternative to that I’ve lived out my teenage years and can give them a perspective on things that might occur to teenagers going through teenage hood. Im a kind person and reasonable person, I'm not afraid to tell the kids off or hold them accountable, but if I do so I’ll do it in a kind and considerate way. Im not bilingual in any way, as English is the only language I can speak but a life goal of mine is to learn another language so hopefully I could do so while Au Pairing!

I’ve spent a lot of time working with kids, and it’s something i take pride in. My current job is working for a community gym called PCYC. We run programs for disadvantaged kids. My role is to play games with the kids and be a mentor for them. We work on improving their self esteem, and work on helping their behaviour and attitude as most of the kids are troubled from their home life.

I also have been a facilitator for a programs called, The Rites Of Passage. It’s a program that aims to build a better connection between teenagers and their fathers. As kids become teenagers the relationship with your parents can shift and change. The four day program works towards acknowledging that fathers sons are becoming young men and through this fathers and sons can develop a new relationship that is based on respect and communication. Ultimately I believe the kids develop a greater sense of who they are and what they feel passionate towards.

I’ve also done volunteering work in the Tiwi Islands, which is an island that has predominantly Indigenous Australian population. We played games with the kids, and just had a lot of fun. It was a great experience!
