Letter to the family

Having had experience as a disability carer, nanny, childminder, and overnight babysitter (with a wide range of ages from infants to preteens), I have ample skills and abilities that allow me to care for children to an outstanding standard. These experiences have provided rich opportunities to provide care that is full of fun, adventurous spirit, and exciting activities that help develop critical skills and abilities in big and little ones! I have excellent skills in conflict resolution, problem solving, and communication.

Volunteering in kids and youth ministry I have extensive experience in time management and running creative learning activities with large groups of children and youth. This has further enhanced my ability to multitask and remain genuinely focused on those I interact and care for. Through it I have received feedback that I do this genuinely and to a high standard. Previous work at McDonald’s, occupational therapy practice education, and this volunteering has taught me invaluable communicating and collaborating skills, which I believe are primary to providing the best possible care.

Through my tertiary education, studying Occupational Therapy, I have acquired many clinical skills and experiences which have been invaluable. Through this I had placement experiences working with children who have complex mental health issues and their families and within a primary school setting to enhance engagement in their meaningful and necessary activities of daily life. Adapting their environments to be supportive and developing physical, social, and emotional skills. Reflecting upon my practice I have learnt how to deliver care which engages different age groups in meaningful and individual ways.

I am confident that my experience working with different age groups, diverse range of skills and abilities, and energetic and fun nature will make me an excellent candidate for this role.

Experience

While not being hired until the title of au pair, I have held roles that share the same responsibilities. I have experience with working all hours of the day including overnights stays. This has more than adequate prepared me for a role as a live in au pair and I wish to do this with this program as I am passionate about providing the best care I can and helping families.
