Letter to the family

Hi! Nice to meet you.

About 4 years ago I went to Europe as an au pair, and it was one of the best and most challenging experiences I've ever lived. I know what it is to be an au pair, to wake up before the kids, make breakfast, get them ready for school, take them, go back for them, help them with their homework, play, do home duties with them, get them ready for bed, and then start the cicle again. The thing with kids is, it doesn't matter if the day is full of things to do, somehow they transfer you that energy to do it all, and it doesn't matter if the day is a copy of the one before, with them is never boring.

So WHAT AM I EXPECTING?

I expect a family in which the parents are looking for help (NOT SOMEONE TO RAISE THEIR KIDS, NOT SOMEONE TO DISCIPLINE, AND NO VIOLENCE! I don't feel confortable spanking kids, I believe in dialogue, rules and awareness). I wanna be "the old sister" of your kids. Talk to them, play with them, give them advises, answer their questions (even if it's "why?" like a million times and the answer to the answer is again "why?" haha), I want to help them with homework, cook, make craft, play sport, etc...

WHAT SHOULD YOU EXPECT?

I'll really care for your kids. You can expect someone who will listen, someone who will go into pinterest in the night to have activities for the next day, someone who will be patient and who will end the day with grace even if I'm dying of tiredness. I will keep my space clean, and of course pick up the spaces we (the kids and I) use and clean the dishes that are used.

Experience

I have 3 siblings and LOTS of cousins, so my babysitter days really started when I was about 8-9 years old (for real).
Then I started doing it as a job in high school, after that I became an english teacher at a kindergarten and then I went abroad as an au pair for a year. I'll tell you of that experience:

In 2016 I went to Czech Republic with a family of 3 kids. The experience was a little more bitter than sweet for me. Mostly because I was very young and naive and the rules changed while I was there. I like things to be clear and agreements to be respected. We can always talk things again to make adjustments but.... with this experience the changes where: My free days changed from being half Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays to being Wednesdays and Sundays, or I was working 12 extra hours for no extra payment, I had to spank the kids if they where not behaving. And a lot of things that where not said before.

So.... **SUPER IMPORTANT!!! COMMUNICATION WITH THE PARENTS IS KEY FOR ME!!!**

My second experience was a blast, I took care of a little girl and she was sooooo loving, as well as the parents.
We played a lot (specially colored). I was there for only a month because the girl was 2 years old and she was just starting to learn english (they where Rumanian), so I couldn't understand if she wanted milk, to go out, to sleep, to play, or what was that that she desired. She really has a special place in my heart and I wish I could have magically learned Rumanian to be a bit longer with her. But the parents and I agreed that the best for her was to find a Rumanian au pair.

And so I got to the best family ever!!! 3 kids (well, now 4). My day started at 6am and ended at 10pm, for 3 days a week.
