Letter to the family

Hi! My name is Gretchen and I’m currently a nursing student with a minor in child development! I loveee working with children I have taught ballet for kids, been a swimming and dance counselor, and have worked at a child care for hospital staff. I’m very energetic, charismatic, and thoughtful. I’m looking to be an au pair in the summer starting in May 2025. I was born in Miami, Florida. However, I was raised in Cali, Colombia until I was about 7 years old. I was raised by my grandmother and aunt. Later on, I moved with my parents in Miami and got familiar with American culture and shared my colombian side everywhere I went! I have three siblings all older and have a niece and nephew that I babysit.

Experience

I’ve worked with kids for two summers once as a swimming and dance counselor requiring me to make lesson plans for them and as for when they were in the water teaching them how to swim and stay safe as I was a lifeguard as well. Later on I became a dance teacher assistant at a ballet studio that allow me to work with kids from ages 3 - 14. In addition, I have volunteer at a child care for hospital staff mostly with babies and young children feeding them and changing their diapers etc. I’ve also cared for my own nephew and niece. I want to be an au pair because I believe is the best way to get in touch with other cultures along with sharing and utilizing my passion for kids! I love getting to work with them and not only being their caregiver but also being a friend/ older sibling to them. I want to be able to explore the world through other lenses other than my own and learn different ways on how i can integrate other cultures within food, daily activities, and music! I also would love to train for dance at a dance studio or dance intensive anywhere I end up going!
