Letter to the family

Hello Everyone,

I am Sujatha! I was born in Indiana, USA, but when I was 10 years old, my family moved to Malaysia, where I spent the next 10 years of my life. Growing up in a different country taught me to be open to different cultures and sparked my curiosity about diverse traditions, food, and languages. With my Malaysian-Indian father and American mother, I grew up embracing a mix of backgrounds, which shaped my global perspective.

I attended an international high school, where my friends came from all over the world—Japan, Ireland, the Netherlands, and beyond. Being surrounded by such diversity broadened my understanding of different cultures and deepened my appreciation for global connections. During high school, I played netball, soccer, and football, which strengthened my love for teamwork, strategy, and competition.

After high school, I moved back to the United States to attend St. Cloud State University on a full-ride academic scholarship. I pursued a double major in Human Resource Management and Global Business, graduating magna cum laude. While in college, I balanced my studies with a part-time job as a nanny, stayed active in the Malaysian Student Association, and played Ultimate Frisbee for the university’s team.

I later earned my Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Concordia University in St. Paul, Minnesota. My career in human resources and recruiting began in 2018, and I am currently the Senior Talent Scout and Human Resources Lead at SkyWater Search Partners, an executive search firm based in Minnesota. In my role, I connect experienced recruiters with hiring leaders and oversee people operations within the company.

Experience

Growing up between two cultures—born in the United States and spending 10 years in Malaysia—I developed a deep appreciation for diverse traditions, languages, and ways of life. My background has made me adaptable, open-minded, and naturally curious, which are qualities I believe are essential for being an Au Pair abroad.

During college at St. Cloud State University, I worked part-time as a nanny, which gave me hands-on experience in childcare, responsibility, and creating a positive environment for kids. I enjoyed engaging children in fun and educational activities, helping with daily routines, and fostering a sense of creativity and independence. Through this experience, I learned how to balance patience, structure, and flexibility while ensuring the children felt safe, supported, and happy.

Beyond childcare, my global upbringing and love for cultural exchange make me especially excited about becoming an Au Pair abroad. Attending an international high school with friends from Japan, Ireland, the Netherlands, and beyond taught me how meaningful it is to connect with people from different backgrounds. I want to immerse myself in another culture, share my own traditions, and experience firsthand how families live and raise children in different parts of the world.

Additionally, my passion for languages, cultural learning, and personal growth drives me to seek new experiences that challenge and inspire me. Becoming an Au Pair abroad would allow me to build lifelong connections, contribute to a family’s daily life, and continue growing as an individual.

I am confident that my childcare experience, international mindset, and strong adaptability make me a great fit for this opportunity, and I look forward to embracing this journey!
