Letter to the family

Hello future host family,
first of all, thank you for looking at my profile! I am a 17-year old girl from a village near Mainz, Germany and I would love getting to know all of you.
I am looking forward to finding a family that will let me be a part of their daily lives and show me a bit about their own, special world!
I have always loved being around kids and spending a lot of time with them and it is such a great honor and responsibility to become some kind of attachment figure - an experience, I hope, I can have with your child(ren) too

I have always wandet to go to Israel and after I finish school in June 2020, an AuPair is the perfect way to spend the time between school and university. About a year ago, I started teaching myself Hebrew (עברית) and am still active on that. It is another reason for me to go to Israel, because I want to learn talking Hebrew more confident and I think improving it in the everyday life is the best way to do so.

At the moment, I live with my parents and two younger sisters in a small village. We also have a dog and besides that I love all kinds of pets :)

In my family, it is normal that everybody does as many chores as they can, so I wouldn’t have any problems supporting you as much as I can (and you are comfortable with, of course)
In my free time, i like to play the guitar/piano and sing along to either me playing or just the radio. The other thing, I spend a lot of time with other than music, is exploring nature. I like to go kayaking once a week and spend almost all of my time with scouts, where we also go hiking in other countries with just a tent for some weeks each year.

Besides with scouts, I also spend time abroad on two student exchanges to France. My mother tongue is German and I learned English, French and Spanish in school. I would consider myself fluent in English and also in French, though not as confident as English. As for Spanish: I don‘t remember much of what I learned about it in school, except for some phrases which are still useful sometimes. About a year ago, I started teaching myself Hebrew and am still active on that, as I absolutely love that language :).

After school, I plan on studying social work and my dream job would be something around refugees! I‘ve done some placements in that field and had a lot of fun there.

That‘s it! If there is anything, you would like to know, feel free to ask :)

- Hanna

Experience

I have my own scout-group of girls aged 9-11 for which I plan an organize weekly meetings and other activities. Other experience with children, I gained through the children’s program in my community which I helped organize. I‘ve been babysitting a few times. That also included taking care of twin toddlers sometimes, which was quite another challenge ;)
With the aim of getting to know other cultures and getting in touch with some of them, I helped out in a programm that gives free help with homework to refugee children in my village
