Letter to the family

Hi future family:)!

I am a fun-loving, creative, outgoing, responsible and committed 19 year old student from Montreal, Canada! I am taking a break from my studies in hope for a cultural exchange, to learn more about myself and make connections with new people that I can hopefully call my second family! Connecting with people is an essential part of me because I believe every person I meet can bring something to my life! I would also love to share my culture, knowledge and hope that you can do the same as well!

I would consider myself a very free spirited person who loves spreading love:) There's nothing that I love more than putting a smile on someone's face and making them laugh.

I love music, the arts, acting, skateboarding, travelling, knitting, bustin' a move, karaoke, reading...honestly there's so many things I enjoy the list could go on forever. I'm super active and open to doing anything! I like to think I'm an open-minded person, activism, politics, mutual aid and direct action are all very important to me. Community support is super important to me.

I am always looking for ways to help others out in anyway I can! I have a very positive mindset and always try to see the good in people. As much as I love being a fun and out-going person, I know when it's time to have fun and when it's time to be serious. I am very reliable, keep to my word and communication is very important to me.

I am a very good listener, understanding and super flexible! I'm always up for an adventure and being spontaneous, but can also keep organized and committed to what needs to be done. Enough about me, I hope to hear more about you and your family!:)

please do not hesitate to ask me any questions! very open to zoom calls to see if we are a good match:)

Hope to hear from you:)

Experience

I absolutely love working with kids and have a wide range of experiences working with different kids! I believe there's so much to learn from children and I also strive to make a positive impact in their lives.

-In the summertime I am a counsellor at a sleep away camp in the countryside for children coming from lower income households and foster care. I worked with kids ages 5-14 throughout the summer. Counsellors are in charge of looking out for the campers from morning till bedtime. Playing games, swimming, running around, sports, art and crafts and dancing is what the average day is like at camp! I also worked one on one with a sweet girl who had autism and speech problems.

-In summer 2019, I worked at a day camp in the countryside as a counsellor as well. We were in charge of keeping the campers entertained and safe 5 days a week. Since covid was around and we couldn't bring the campers anywhere we had to fill the day with imaginative games to keep the campers entertained. On top of being a counsellor, I worked as a shadow (one on one again) for an amazing boy who had autism and dealt with anger issues.

-During the school year in 2019, I worked as an after school animator teaching and supervising kids to build robotic lego.

-My mom is a pre-school teacher so ever since I was 10 years old I would come into the preschool to volunteer and help out with entertaining the kids, cleaning up and supervising. (age group 2-3 years old)

-Since I was 15 I have babysat for many different families during the day, during the night, bringing the kids to the park, making dinner, playing games, reading, dancing, singing, helping out with homework, etc (age group 2-10 years old)

I am fluent in both English and French, but English is my mother tongue and what I speak with my friends and Family. If you are looking to have an au pair to practice English and/or French with I'm your gal:)! I speak very basic Spanish as well and am planning on teaching myself more throughout the next few months. I love learning other new languages as well!
