Letter to the family

Dear future host family,

My name is Sontje, I am 19 years old and together with my brother and my parents I live near Münster in Germany. Before I start university, I would love to spend some time abroad. I enjoy being around children, playing, drawing, baking, dancing, doing crafts, going outdoors (...) and having fun with them.
My mother tongue is German, but in school I learned English (C1) and French (B1). Being an Au Pair would give me the opportunity to combine spending time in a foreign family while improving my English skills and getting to know country and culture of my hosts. I think this is a good way to broaden my horizon while recharging my batteries after school is out and before I start a new chapter in my life.

I am a joyful, energetic and loving person, but also very calm and laid back. My friends describe me as reliable, easy-going and kind.

If you have pets, I will be happy to take care of them. I love animals, especially dogs and horses. In my free time I enjoy playing Volleyball and doing (as well as trying out) different kinds of sports. I like to travel and I love being at the seaside.

Experience

For 6 months I have lived with a British family in London, which was a fantastic experience for all of us! I easily settled in and had a great time with my host family! (parents, 11y old girl, 9y old boy)
Over the summer, I was with a lovely Spanish family to learn Spanish. (parents, 12y old girl, 9y old twins boy and girl)

Furthermore, in school I have spent a lot of time with children between 9 and 11 years, because during their first year at my school I took on the mentoring of a school class, showed them around the school area, was their contact for any questions and problems and spent minimum 2 days per week playing with them on their breaks. We also went on a 3-days-trip together where we spent the whole day together. (I can send you a letter of recommendation from the teacher.) It was a very nice experience for me, we had a lot of fun and I could really build a strong bond to some of them.
