Letter to the family
Hello! My name is Lou, I’m 20 years old, and I’m currently studying Biology in Nantes, France. I’m excited to apply to be an au pair. I truly love working with children and have years of experience in childcare, including regular babysitting and providing homework assistance. I’m enthusiastic about becoming part of a family, contributing to a supportive and positive environment for children to grow and learn, while also discovering new countries and improving my English.
In addition, I have completed two years of medical studies, which gives me a solid foundation of knowledge in this field. At the same time, I hold a DEUG in STAPS (a two-year diploma in Sports Science, focusing on physical education, health, and sports coaching), which includes training similar to the BAFA certification in France (the French certificate for youth leaders and camp counselors). This background has taught me essential childcare and activity-planning skills, helping me manage groups and create engaging activities for kids.
I have been studying English since I was six years old. I have a very good understanding of the language, and I speak it fairly well (if we consider my French accent! ?)
My family and friends are very important to me. I grew up with a younger sister, with whom I am very close. I am athletic and play competitive volleyball. I love to laugh and have a great sense of humor. I also know how to be discreet when necessary.
I am known for being patient, gentle, and adaptable. I’m confident in my ability to handle different situations with ease and a lot of empathy.
Becoming an au pair would be an incredible opportunity to support your family while experiencing a new culture, which I’m genuinely excited about. I would love to bring my skills, energy, and enthusiasm to your home! Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you’d like to discuss further—I’d be delighted to connect and learn more about your family :)
My family :
I am blessed with parents who love me deeply and a wonderful 16-year-old sister with whom I share a very close bond. I’ve always had a special connection with my younger cousins and enjoyed spending time with them. Over the years, I've often taken care of them, stepping in to help out and support our family whenever I could
My studies :
I am currently taking a gap year after completing two years of medical studies alongside two years in STAPS (a double degree). I have been studying English since I was a child. Right now, I’m looking for an au pair family to join during this break I’m giving myself to discover new things and possibilities
My free time :
I’m an active and adventurous person who loves to explore new places. I’ve been fortunate to travel a lot with my family and friends, visiting amazing destinations like England, Ireland, Italy, Spain, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, and the Caribbean islands.
Creativity is a big part of who I am; I enjoy making things with my hands, whether it's drawing or crafting objects out of clay. I also love playing board games and cherishing fun moments with my friends and family.
I am a big music listener. I like every kind of styles and I would be happy to share this with you :)
Sport has always been a passion of mine. I play competitive volleyball and also enjoy soccer, tennis, and a bit of basketball. Plus, I’m a great swimmer ! I’m excited to discover even more activities and sports along the way !
My childcare experience :
I’ve been babysitting since I was 15, caring for children of all ages—from adorable babies to energetic older kids—about 1 to 2 times a week. I also enjoy managing groups during physical activities, making sure everyone has fun and stays engaged! In addition to babysitting, I give private lessons and help with homework, sharing my knowledge and supporting their learning. I hold a diploma that allows me to care for children and have even completed lifesaving courses, so I’m always prepared and ready to keep them safe !
My language skills :
I speak French fluently and would be delighted to teach your children a few fun things about the language! I also have a good level of English and I’m looking forward to improving my skills through this experience.
