Letter to the family

Hi!!! My name is Lily :) I am a current high school senior with a LOVE for traveling and kids! I worked at child care, taught young children how to swim, was a lifeguard, and am a waitress, I also work at a kid's summer camp over the summer. I am very much a "social butterfly" :) As well as fun, I am focused on safety and organization. I want to become an Au pair so that I can divulge myself into the culture. As well as running infant swim lessons at my local YMCA, I also teach young kids how to kayak and paddleboard. I enjoy teaching children, they are little sponges soaking up all our information, I love to watch children blossom and learn. I am super easy-going and responsible. I am certified in first aid, CPR/choking, and small child resuscitation. I have been a certified lifeguard for four years and have been working with children for about five. Before my life-guarding days, I worked in a nursing home helping the elderly and keeping them entertained. I enjoy working with children so much because I enjoy unstructured play which I think is important to a child to have time to let them be out in nature and play, not necessarily giving them something to do but let them figure out what they want to do. I have also been babysitting since I was 13, even before that I would cat/dog watch for the family. I love just taking the kids out the creek and they make up their games and we all play or we will build boats and race them, I have a plethora of games up my sleeve if not :) I am extremely flexible with day-to-day life. I grew up in a 6-person family where schedule and order were often disrupted by other things. I believe I qualify for the position because working at Blue Mountain Adventure Camp, where the kids ranged in age of 5-15 and the older kids would stay the night along with us counselors up in tents. After spending an entire summer with kids day and night I have found a love in teaching kids. Whether it be how to sustain for themselves, treat the environment, or handle themselves in situations. All it took was for them to see someone act correctly more around their age. It was a healthy cycle of me being the best I could so the kids could be the best they could when they leave camp.

Experience

I want to Au Pair abroad because I want to be able to see the world in any way I can while working or not spending a lot of money. I heard about Au Pair through a friend who after high school went to France and Au Pair'd there. She enjoyed it and it was an expense-free (for the most part) easy way to travel. I am excited to pack a bag and just pick up life and move it across the globe. After being in the same place for 10+ years I'm so ready for a change of scenery.
