Letter to the family

I am passionate about fostering a fun, loving environment for children. I am eager to help children build their skills in communication and self-expression while diving into activities that bring them joy-- whether that be music, art, sports, science experiments, etc. I am happy to cook, clean, and take over other household tasks necessary to create a vibrant space where we can enjoy our time together. I hope to work closely with parents to ensure their expectations are being met.

Experience

I worked as the director of a non-profit camp called Camp Kesem throughout my entire undergraduate experience, providing a free week of summer camp and year-long childcare services for families coping with cancer. Children we served were ages 6-17. After graduating college I joined Teach For America, which requires a two-year commitment of teaching in low-income schools. After a five-week intensive training, I was placed in New Orleans, Louisiana to teach in low-income schools. I taught eighth grade english and language arts my first year of teaching and have taught 5th grade english and language arts the past 2 years. I love creating a safe space for these children to learn and engage with literature. However class sizes of 30 children can make it difficult to gage how well every student is absorbing the lesson. I cherish any opportunity to work one-on-one with my students and being an Au Pair allows much more time and space to build meaningful connections with the children I'm supporting. I have dreamt of moving to Spain for over a year and feel that being an Au Pair would allow me to both travel and connect with a loving family.
