Letter to the family

Dear Host Family, I am really excited to begin this new journey. I have spent my whole life around children, teaching and caring for them, I can't wait to bring my love for family and adventure to being an Aupair. I am a very family-oriented person who is kind, bubbly and outgoing, I am looking forward to talking and getting to know your family. I am 20 years old living in a family with split parents who have both found new partners, from this I have been lucky enough to be the oldest of 8 children between both families. I believe being the older sibling has created my bubbly, outgoing and loving personality. I have spent my life caring and looking after my younger siblings which eventually led me into my career goals of working with and alongside children. I believe I have a happy nature and an outgoing personality which I am looking forward to bringing into my Aupair experience. My Mum is a receptionist at a law firm, my Dad is an accountant, my step Dad is an insurance broker and my step Mum works for the New Plymouth District Council. This has all given me a lot of insight into what desk jobs are like and has allowed me to realise that having a desk job is not something I am looking for. I live in New Plymouth, New Zealand and flat with 2 of my best friends.

Experience

I am currently in my last year of study at the University of Waikato studying for a Degree in Early Childhood Education (teaching). I also have a qualification in Swim teaching. I love to play sport such as Netball, Surfing and swimming. Each of these things I have done since I was a child. I also love to hang out with my friends, go shopping, go out for coffee, and watch movies. I really love to be around other people and share my interests with them. I have had a lot of experience with children of all different ages, through my degree I have spent time working in kindergartens and day-care centres working with children aged 6months right through to 6 years old. Due to my swim teaching I have taught children from babies to 14 years old how to swim and be safe in the water. I am also currently nannying for a family with a 2-year-old boy. I speak English as my native language, and I have been learning little amounts of Māori throughout my university degree. I plan to continue learning and developing my understanding of the Māori language. I want to be an Au pair because I love looking after children, I get so much joy from watching children learn how to do new things and experience new things. I get along really well with children, and I want to expand my experiences, so far, I have only lived in my hometown and my university town. I want to experience the world and use my talents and knowledge in working with children in new parts of the world. I don't have many expectations as I am not really sure what to expect in a New country however I would love to feel a part of the family and join in with new, fun experiences. I hope to learn new things and develop great relationships with each person in my host family. I also hope to make new friends and spend time learning about your culture and country.
