Letter to the family

Dear Future Host Family,

My name is Brithany, and I’m a 22-year-old student about to graduate from Rutgers University with a degree in Neuroscience and a minor in Chemistry. I’m originally from Newark, New Jersey, and as a proud first-generation college student, I’ve learned the value of hard work, community, and care. Outside of academics, I find joy in swimming (my happy place!), sewing creative projects, and experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen. Cooking meals from different cultures has become one of my favorite ways to connect with people.

I’m excited to apply for a position as your Au Pair and Live-in Tutor because I genuinely love working with children and families. Over the years, I’ve gained experience in both professional and volunteer roles that have strengthened my ability to connect with kids of all ages. What draws me most to this opportunity is the chance to be a part of a family's everyday life—helping your children grow, learn, and explore while also sharing moments and traditions that make a home special. I also see this as a beautiful cultural exchange where I can share my background while learning about yours.

As a tutor, I bring not only a strong academic background in the sciences but also a patient and creative teaching style. I’ve mentored peers and younger students in STEM subjects and love finding ways to make learning fun and meaningful. I’m organized, responsible, and genuinely invested in seeing kids thrive in and out of the classroom.

Why should you host me? Because I care deeply. I bring a positive energy, a nurturing spirit, and a willingness to contribute to your family in real and supportive ways—whether that’s helping with homework, preparing meals, organizing fun learning activities, or simply being a dependable, kind presence in your child’s life. I believe in building trust and open communication, and I truly want this to be a partnership where we all grow from the experience.

Thank you for considering me to be a part of your family. I would be honored to bring my skills, heart, and curiosity to your home, and I look forward to the chance to connect with you further.

Warmly,
Brithany

Experience

Throughout my college years, I worked as a babysitter for multiple families in my community. This experience taught me how to adapt to different household routines, communicate effectively with both children and parents, and provide consistent, nurturing care. Whether I was helping with homework, preparing meals, or coming up with fun activities after school, I always approached my role with warmth, patience, and responsibility.

In addition to babysitting, I’ve also had the opportunity to work with children in healthcare settings. As part of my clinical and volunteer experiences in hospitals, I’ve supported pediatric patients and their families during some of their most vulnerable moments. I’ve helped with activities to keep young patients engaged, provided comfort during procedures, and assisted staff with non-medical care. These moments strengthened my compassion, attentiveness, and ability to connect with kids on both an emotional and developmental level.

I would love to become an Au Pair & Live-in Tutor abroad because it feels like the perfect blend of everything I care about—childcare, education, cultural exchange, and service. I believe living with a family and supporting their children is one of the most meaningful ways to understand a new culture. At the same time, I get to bring my own experiences, creativity, and academic background into your home to help your children grow both academically and personally.

This opportunity would allow me to explore the world while doing something that feels purposeful. I’m excited by the idea of building a genuine connection with a host family and creating a positive, fun, and educational environment for your children.
