Letter to the family

Hi! My name is Philine, I‘m 18 years old and live in a mid-sized city in the North West of Germany. I am currently in my senior year of high school and will be taking my Abitur in spring of 2025. After graduation, I want to take some time to work as an Au Pair so that I can broaden my horizon, meet new people and make shaping memories outside of an academic context before going off to university. I love all things related to creative story telling - especially acting, making music and writing - and am eager to learn new things. As someone who values family a lot, I am looking forward to the opportunity of exploring a new country and culture first hand through a family‘s every-day life. I love interacting with children - I believe there is a lot to be learned from the way they see the world - and am happy to help them learn new things. Cooking and helping around the house with things such as laundry are things i genuinely enjoy doing and as the older sister to a brother that is also one of my best friends, I am so excited to become something like a big sister to my host siblings!

Experience

As the eldest daughter, I have often been responsible for my younger brother when we were home alone. I also am lucky to have some extended family live in town and regularly babysit my little cousins, who are currently 2 and 5 years old. Additionally, I did a two weeks internship in a kindergarden last year, where I got to learn more about pedagogics and speech therapy and had a great time with the children.
Moreover, I have been tutoring younger students in subjects like English and Maths since 2021. It’s been a great joy and I believe that I have learned just as much from it as my students:)
