Letter to the family

Hello!

My name is Ana, and I’m passionate about discovering new cultures - especially through language. So far, I’ve learned to speak six languages, and I’m not planning to stop anytime soon, as my motto is: “To infinity and beyond!” (I hope you caught the reference!).

Shortly about myself: my full name is Anastasiia, I’m 27 years old and originally from Moscow, Russia, where my family still lives. I’m the eldest of three sisters (they’re 19 and 14), and I’ve always played an active role in helping raise and care for them. With both of my parents being doctors, I jokingly say I have a “child-of-doctors” degree, as I picked up quite a bit of medical knowledge growing up.

Currently, I’m pursuing a Master’s degree in Cognitive Science at the University of Osnabrück in Germany, where I’ve been living for nearly five years. My studies focus on neuroscience and psychology, and in the evenings, I work part-time as a waitress in a local bar. I’m also deeply interested in various forms of art—literature, film, visual arts, and music.

I want to become an Au Pair because I believe it’s one of the best ways to truly experience another culture. Many of my friends have had wonderful experiences as au pairs, and I’d love to follow their path. I’ve already traveled across several EU and non-EU countries and have lived in a variety of settings, but I believe living with a host family is the most immersive way to learn a language and understand a culture from the inside out.

Why might I be a great fit for your family?
• I have real experience caring for children as a big sister.
• I’m naturally responsible and organized—qualities that come from being the eldest sibling.
• I have strong communication skills, thanks to my time volunteering in AEGEE, a European student organization, where I managed events and worked in HR, engaging with people from many different backgrounds.
• I’m well-educated, curious, and genuinely love learning—qualities I hope to pass on, whether through tutoring or just by being a positive presence in your household.

If you feel we might be a good match, I’d love to hear from you! I’m looking forward to getting to know you and hopefully becoming a part of your family for a while.

Warm regards,
Ana

Experience

I believe being an Au Pair offers a truly unique opportunity to immerse yourself in another culture by becoming part of a local family and sharing their daily life. It’s a chance to experience the culture from the inside—not just as a visitor, but as someone involved in everyday routines, traditions, and values. I also find it exciting to live in a new country, explore its cities, meet people from different backgrounds, and improve my foreign language skills in a natural, practical way. For me, becoming an Au Pair is not just about travel—it’s about connection, learning, and meaningful cultural exchange.
