Letter to the family

Hello there, my name is Michelle and it's a pleasure to meet you! I'm a recent graduate, a travel lover and an outdoor enthusiast. I would describe myself as someone with a passion for life, community, learning, and new experiences. The reality of my situation is that I spent 6 years in an academic environment trying to figure out what I wanted to accomplish when I graduated. I made the mistake of choosing a Master's degree to set me up for a "comfortable" career. While working in the corporate world is challenging and enticing to some, I have found that it was not for me. I am someone who highly values experiences from all walks of life, and I am looking for opportunities that fulfil both my personal and professional aspirations.

As someone who would describe themselves as a type B, right-brained person, I would be a great addition to your home and ensure that your children are taken care of in a supportive and caring environment while encouraging them to be the best version of themselves. Childhood is a crucial time in all of our lives and I would be more than honoured to take part in promoting the well-being of our new generation. My goal is to foster an environment that is fun, adventurous, and imaginative while offering structure and consistency to your child's daily life.

I want to become an Au Pair to gain further experience as I pursue my goal of becoming an early childhood educator. I have always been interested in different cultures and ways of living. Backpacking for three months has piqued my interest in working abroad, learning from others, and sharing my own experiences. In pursuit of this career, this opportunity would allow me to gain experience with young minds and learn from the highs and lows that come with being a helping hand.

Experience

Since I was young, I have always had a great time working with kids. As an older sibling with a large age gap (10 and 8 years difference), I was quick to help whenever possible and have essentially acted as a third parent to my siblings. I have been by their side from the day they got home from the hospital to their first day of high school (making bottles, changing diapers, cooking meals, tidying the house, playing games, and being a shoulder to cry on). In high school, my mother owned an at-home daycare, which gave me the chance to entertain the children and even pick up some babysitting jobs too.

I am a naturally curious person who would love the opportunity to see as much of the world as I can. For a long time, I believed that if I found a "good" job that allowed me to do that when I wasn't working, I could be content. I'm glad I've realized that this isn't the case and that opportunity lies in gratifying work that aligns with my interests and encourages me to master my interpersonal skillset. Being an Au Pair would be a commitment to not only my future but would give me the chance to dedicate my best self to others who need assistance. I want to develop a global network that feels like family as I follow my career aspirations.
