Dear Future Host Family,

Hi! My name is Ema, and I’m a trilingual (English, French, and Spanish) high school student from Canada, graduating in 2026. I’m currently planning a gap year where I hope to travel, volunteer, and connect with a host family like yours — before heading off to study biology and pursue my dream of becoming a veterinarian.

Ever since I was little, I’ve had a natural instinct to care for others. I’m the oldest sibling in my family, and that “big sister energy” has always followed me — whether I’m babysitting, helping a child feel comfortable at work, or comforting a nervous pet. I took a certified babysitting course when I was 11 and have been caring for kids ever since. I also work as a restaurant hostess, where I make sure families (especially children!) feel welcome and taken care of every shift. I’m CPR-certified, patient, kind, and know how to stay calm in any situation.

Animals are also a big part of my life. I’ve fostered two bunnies, have two cats, and have helped care for many other pets. I even did a co-op placement at a local veterinary clinic, where I gained real hands-on experience and confirmed that this is what I want to do in the future.

I think what makes me a great Au Pair is my balance of warmth and maturity. I’m creative and adaptable, I love getting involved in kids' games and activities, and I’m just as happy helping with homework or tidying up. Being trilingual is also a big part of who I am — I’ve attended French school my whole life (and have French citizenship), I speak fluent English, and I understand Spanish fully thanks to my Mexican heritage (I'm always improving my confidence when speaking it!).
