Letter to the family

Hi! Thank you for taking the time to read my letter.

My name is Daisy, and I am looking to become an Au Pair in France in my gap year. I will be 18 years old at the time of my travel to France.
I currently live in the small yet prestigious city of Oxford, in England, with my parents and cat Tabby. I'm really close to my family. Although Oxford is certainly a lovely city, I've always had a fascination with exploring wider Europe, France especially. I'm finishing up on my A Levels, and I'm looking for an enriching experience learning French and connecting with a family before I take my next step into university.

Although I achieved an A* at GCSE French, communicating with native speakers is what I am really interested in. I would say my French is at beginner level, but I am confident that I can pick it up with hard work at a language course: this is really something that excites me! I absolutely love the idea of speaking French properly, as learning it in England can be rather restrictive.

I'm also more than happy to work with children. I volunteered with a Girl Guiding group (ages 5-14) for almost 3 years, leading activities and learning about looking after children. I also have experience with older children as a Mental Health Peer Supporter (ages 10-15) in my sixth form these past two years. I am prepared to face difficulties with language barriers and I will put in lots of effort with children, even if it may be difficult at first.

Experience

Becoming an Au Pair abroad would develop my awareness of French culture and language. I've always wanted to pick up French abroad, so staying with a lovely family would be incredible! I'm also excited to gain experience with children, as although I have helped out at clubs, I have never taken on a role looking after them long-term.
In my free time from my duties, I will take the opportunity to attend my courses but also to explore France itself. I have visited Paris and Nice before for one week each, but I'm ready to properly immerse myself in the country for 3 months or so.
