Letter to the family
Dear future host
My name is Giulia, I am Italian and I’m 24 years old, and I would love the opportunity to become your au pair in Paris. After spending a semester studying at Université Paris Cité through the Erasmus program, in which I followed Anglophones studies, I completely fell in love with the city, its energy, beauty, and culture made a lasting impression on me. I now wish to return, not just as a visitor or student, but as someone truly immersed in daily Parisian life. Becoming an au pair feels like the perfect way to do that, while also doing something meaningful: taking care of children and supporting a family.
I have always enjoyed working with children and have built valuable experience over the years. For three summers, I worked as an animatrice (activity leader) in summer camps and holiday colonies, where I was responsible for groups of children both during the day and overnight, sometimes for several consecutive weeks. These roles taught me how to be attentive, creative, and dependable in caring for children of different ages. I’ve also taken part in several school camps as an activity leader, and I regularly assist with children’s theater performances in school, helping kids from preschool to elementary and their theatre teacher through the process of the mise en scene. These experiences, paired with my background in acting, allow me to connect with children in a fun and engaging way.
I also spent seven years in a non-religious, nautical scouting group (we not only did normal scout activity in nature but also we used to go sailing and build canoes), which has been a big part of my personal development. While I wasn’t in charge of younger children in a formal sense, I learned how to work in a team, as a team leader, carrying for he younger of my group, organising activities and trips. Thanks to my scout experience we were able to do volunteering service for the local community. Being a scout gave me both practical and interpersonal skills: such as adaptability, a strong sense of responsibility, and a deep love for nature and outdoor life, all of which I believe are great assets as an au pair.
I am an energetic and outdoorsy, I love to cook and try new cuisine and my curiosity for learning is endless. I speak English fluently (C1 level) and have a B1 level in French, which I’m eager to improve. I’m also currently pursuing my bachelor’s degree after graduating from an acting academy, in History. My previous education before all of that is human science high school in which we focused a lot on subjects such as pedagogy, psychology, anthropology and sociology.
This is all me, don’t hesitate to ask questions! look forward to the opportunity to speak with you and learn more about your family.
Warm regards,
Giulia
