Letter to the family

Hello future host family!

My name is Avery , and I am from Atlanta, GA! I am currently a third year student at Georgia Tech, majoring in Neuroscience and minoring in Health and Medical Sciences. I have been babysitting for over 8 years, working with kids from infant to 13+. While working with kids whether through volunteering, babysitting, or tutoring is one of my favorite activities, I also enjoy travelling, hiking, reading, painting, and swimming! Since I am halfway through my college career, I decided it would be an ideal time to take a step back from school and focus on something I truly enjoy: playing with kids and experiencing new places. Prior to COVID-19, I was hoping to spend this semester in Colombia on a medical mission trip where I would help support their current pediatric healthcare systems; however, with the given circumstances, I decided that remaining in the United States and working outside of the healthcare system might be a better option. I am fully prepared to follow any social distancing and quarantine guidelines that your family prefers and will provide a negative test upon meeting. I also would be able to do basic housekeeping and cooking duties.

Not only have I been babysitting/nannying for quite a while, I also have found value and enjoyment in tutoring kids at a local hospital and as a leader in an organization that provides education and tutoring resources to juveniles in the juvenile delinquent system. Additionally, I am CPR / First Aid certified and have experience working with kids with medical conditions. After working at a summer camp for kids with cancer, I gained experience working with over 15 kids at a time and gained experience working with children who have hearing impairments, physical and developmental disabilities, and behavioral concerns. I know a small amount of ASL (American Sign Language), as well as basic Spanish and Latin--all of which I would be happy to teach your family if interested!

Ultimately, I would love to get to know and temporarily become a part of your family! As a first time Au Pair, I am looking forward to an incredible experience!

Experience

I am new to the Au Pair experience; however, I am looking forward to combining multiple of my interests in hopes of finding a fulfilling way to take some time off of school. I love kids and expanding my worldly knowledge and understanding so this experience seemed like the perfect fit!
