Letter to the family

Hello! My name is Lily, and I would love the opportunity to become your au pair. I am a 23-year-old university student from Perth, Western Australia. I am the final stages of my university degree, studying for a Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood and Primary Teaching) at Murdoch University.

I am a very loving, kind, responsible and flexible person, and I enjoy working with children and building positive relationships with them. My favourite thing about working with children is seeing how far their imaginations take them. I also enjoy being part of their growth and development and seeing them thrive. I love watching children just be themselves without worrying about what other think, and I make sure to encourage that. I have some experience with looking after children, mainly from my placements at early childhood centres and have a lot of experience teaching them. I am sure I would do a great job looking after your children!

Experience

I find working with children to be so rewarding and fun. I just love seeing how children grow and develop over time and being a part of that growth. Children thrive when they have strong and positive relationships with the people around them, and I make sure that I form these relationships so I can support them in their growth and development.

I have completed many different teaching placements with a range of ages at early childhood centres and primary schools with most of my placements being with children ages 4-7. I have also done placements with babies, toddlers and older children around 11 and 12. These placements are, on average, around 3 weeks long, with the longest being 6 weeks. During these placements, I have implemented a wide range of learning experiences, managed various behaviours and ensured that all children are safe, supported and happy. I have had some experience with child care, mainly when completing placements at early childhood centres, where I had to help with meals and put children down for their naps.

After spending most of my life focusing on school, I want to gain new life experiences and help others before starting my teaching career. I started university when Covid started, so I have yet to have an opportunity to have a gap year and explore new places and this will be my chance to. I have also always wanted to live in England, and I think this is the best way to learn about a country.
