Well, I do not have any experience as an Au Pair. I have loads of experience as a nanny. At my job that I work at during my semesters of undergrad, a little girl whom I grew close with and I shared a conversation about the movie “Inside Out.” She told me when she becomes a teenager she will have emotions like Riley, the main character of the movie. I told her she already has emotions in her head and told her during coloring I wanted her to draw all of Riley’s emotions. She came back to me afterwards with a picture. Instead of drawing the emotion characters themselves— she drew how the emotion made her feel. A few examples; for anxiety she drew a spiral, for fear she drew a bunch of jagged, sharp lines, and for anger she drew a tiny little fist. That was the moment I knew what my calling was. I was meant to help people understand their emotions. Especially children.
